A Short Story...

Declaration: A work of fiction.

A boy and a girl met. They both had met with the fate of destiny. They both shared so much in common, understood each other so well. But they had to depart from each other, again because of the fate of destiny.

They used to still talk to each other, each day as they both used to miss each other a lot. They both liked each other's company. Both were alone in their own life and wanted someone to share there feelings with. But soon realized there was something more between them. Initially they continued it just for fun of it but found them selves getting involved deeper and deeper. Both were trying to control their feelings.

The girl thought one day that there is no use to continue this way as this relation has no future nor they can give it an approval in the society. She also thought that the guy may do something stupid and create a scene and create trouble in his or her life. So she decided to stop all this and just maintain a normal relation with the guy. So she stopped calling him and refused to talk to him. She stopped saying all emotional things she used to say to him.

The guy also wanted the same. He used to feel that he might me creating unnecessary trouble to the girl, who already had so many problems in her life. He too decided to withdraw to a point where he made sure she wonÂ’t get sentimental about him. But he felt withdrawing without telling each other the reason was not appropriate, as both were matured enough to understand the circumstances.

But now she was alone, she needed someone in her life with whom she could spend her time with. She wanted to have all the fun in life. She started looking around, may be just for a friendship. She did find someone who was close to her, had a funny nature. Who used to give her compliments. Make her feel happy. Take her around to movies. They started chatting with each other, calling each other, going out to movies, having a good time with each other. She was not sure if she liked him, but she definitely liked his company. Slowly she started staying away from the previous guy. But she did not let him know about the decision. She thought that with time the relationship may loose the closeness with the distance between them.

The guy was still alone and was not in a mindset to get into any more relationships. He just wanted to keep in touch with the girl, not realizing that she was happy with some other guy in her life. One day he came to know that she was going around with a guy. He was very much disturbed with that, but convinced him self that it was her necessity to stay happy and was quite because she was happy. But it was eating him from within. It was like a nightmare for him. But he was helpless, because she was getting what she wanted from the other guy, what he was not in a position to provide her due to the distance between them and the fate of destiny. He made sure she wonÂ’t even get an idea about his feelings about this.

She was also worried for her future. She wanted to settle down in her life soon. But she was running out of time. Someone she was waiting for were getting married. She once talked to this guy to see a possibility of getting a commitment from him. The guy was more then willing to give the commitment. But he knew for sure that she wonÂ’t be happy with him, as there would be a lot of hurdles for their getting together. As he was bound by his duties towards his family and he knew for sure that he would never get an approval from his family. But he was ready to take the risk, for he knew initially he may not get an approval but with time he would be accepted. She not able to get a commitment from him decided to end the relationship with him. But she decided to do it slowly so that he wonÂ’t get agitated. He was aware of what was going on, but decided to leave it all on fate.

He used to send her poems in SMS, which she used to forward them to the other guy. She sometimes used to send SMS meant for the other guy to him by accident. It was not a mere coincidence but just because the other guyÂ’s name was just above his, in her phone book. Once she even forwarded the same SMS sent to her back to him instead of forwarding it to the other guy. When he asked her, she told him that she wanted to send it to her "didi". But why will anyone send "weekend plans" and shayaris to "didi"?

It was not something wrong that she was doing. It was her personal life and she was free to do what ever she wanted. But something which was so evident and was understood by the guy, she was not accepting it as she felt he might feel bad. It was not that he had no feelings left for her. He used to adore and respect her a lot. But at the same time he wanted her to be happy.

He was terribly ill one day. He was feeling very lonely sitting at home all the time. He called her up just casually to talk to her. He again made sure he wonÂ’t talk anything emotional to her. She was in no mood to talk to him or keep in touch with him. He wanted to meet her sometime as it was a long time. She started giving excuses for not meeting him. He felt terrible but did not complain. He felt totally thrown out and rejected. She accepted that she was in fact going out with some other guy. He knew that from before that she was going away from him for this guy. He thought at least some one is happy with their life. He wished good luck her for this. He had wished for she had a friend in her life, which was misunderstood as something else by her. She did not like him commenting about her personal life. She did not chat with him for a long time.

He had gone home for a vacation. But spent most of the time silent and not talking to anyone. As he was feeling it difficult to accept that he was no more important to someone he cared for so much. He was going into depression. But he had to accept his fate.

The SMS sent by him were once seen by the other guy. He was not happy with her getting SMS daily from this guy. Even she wanted to get away with this as she was finding it difficult not telling him about the other guy. She stopped sending and replying to the SMSs to him. That got him agitated. He was getting on to the terms of accepting that she was no more interested in him. He was feeling comfortable that she was happy in her own world with the other guy. But when she stopped sending him SMSs, he felt deceived. He felt she still treats him as an ex-boy friend who is still behind her. This made him feel sick.

He called her up and wanted to sort it out. He made sure he wonÂ’t use any strong words. But she had made up her mind to end it all. She used all the strong words which hurt him a lot. She told him to get away from her and forget her. She told him she wonÂ’t ever SMS him nor call him. But he knew why she was doing this. He was shattered. But it was difficult for him to stay without talking to her. He still used to love her a lot, more then ever before. But again he decided to give up and not bother her and leave her for her happiness. He was getting used to not getting SMS from her.

One day as usual she and the other guy were sending each other some SMSs. She accidentally sent a reply to this guy. He was sleeping at home after taking some sleeping pills, without which he was not able to sleep each night. He could not understand what she meant with that SMS. He replied back asking her what it meant. She did not respond. He called her up casually to ask what that meant. She on the other side was waiting for the reply from the other guy. She rejected the call. He again called up thinking that it was a connection problem. She was angry at her mistake. But she could not tell him that it was by mistake that she sent it to him. For he will know that she was doing all the things she used to do with him, with the other guy.

She used all the words which had started hurting the self respect of the guy. He made an attempt to convey to her that he just wanted to be treated normally. She had no reason to get angry with him. Just letting him know that it was a mistake would end the confusions. Even if it was not a mistake, the guy had taken more than he could tolerate. This was taken as a weakness of the guy. For the guy, he was ignoring all the tough words as he knew her state of mind dealing with all the uncertainties and insecure feeling she had.

Wondering why he still wants to stick with this girl? Because he still had his options open and wanted to share his life with her, ignoring all odds.

Chapter:

One friday night, She was leaving early for home. While going she pinged they guy saying she is going home. He was told by some of their common friends that some of them were going for a movie. He sms'ed asking her about the movie. After about three hours she replied saying she is at home and did not go to any movie. The time taken to reply and the duration of the movie were coincidentely same. But that was not the case. She had gone out to coffee day with that guy to have a nice time. Some times some facts are so decieving.

The guy went to one of his friend's mirrage over the week end. He wanted to get away from the daily routine and the confusions in his life. For two days he kept him self busy with his other friends. He was kind of getting out of this mindset. When he returned back from the marriage, he was feeling quite relieved. He was getting outof depression, he thought everything will be fine. He SMSed her...wanted to talk to her once and feel better that he was out of it. She refused to talk to him. She was still not treating him normally, he was a bit angry...

chapter:

He decided to ask her about all the incidents and events, assuming that she tells him everything considering him a close friend. Here he went wrong. He had evaded the private space of that girl. She took it as if he was spying on her. He asked her all this because he wanted the girl to stop worrying about him. He told her that he wanted to forget her. Which he knew for sure was not possible for him. She stopped talking to him. Did not even respond to any of his attempts.

He was very much ashamed of himself for the momentarily insane behavior of his. He was very much humiliated by what he had done. He was not able to face himself even in the mirror. He was so shattered that for two days he confined himself to a closed room to get out of it.

He never had even imagined that she would stop all sorts of communication with him. He was not prepared for that. He had assumed that she will be in touch with him as a friend but continue with her life. He had made a blunder. He had lost the most precious thing in his life. He had lost every thing. He tried everything to make her stay. But knew she would never come back.

He went to meet her, but she did not even respond to him. Did not even see him. He realized that she was not at all effected by his presence. She was very happy in her own world. It takes a lot to accept that you don't make any difference to some one you consider so close to you. The worst thing is to loose someone and later realize they never were your's in the first place.

He was not able to accept what was going on. Every moment he was suffering for what he had done. He had never gone through this before. He had given up all hopes in his life. His life was in a terrible mess. He was already depressed a lot. Wanted her support to get out of her. But when he was suffering for her, he had no way to get out of the depression he was sinking into. He was not able to concentrate on anything. Be it food, his health, not even driving. His brain was rotten.

He finally not able to tolerate all this, he put a bullet right thru his forehead....
