Jodha Akbar

Image
Had downloaded this movie over torrent, but after seeing an initial 15 mins decided to watch it on a BIG screen and it was worth the wait and the extra bucks spent. A full 10 of 10 for the technical progress made by the Indian film technicians. Actually a 9 of 10 for the final battle which was shown with just a handful of men was very prominent visual drawback. Something like a CG crowd simulation should have been used to show a huge army (something like LOTR). Hrithik is not that suited for the job of Akbar and Ash as Jodha is some what watchable. The costumes are very well designed (Neeta Lulla). It deserves a 10 of 10. Ashutosh Gowariker has handled the Hindu-Muslim conflicts very well in the story. Specially the adamant behavior of the mullahs and the mulvies for constructing a temple inside the fort of the mughals. The abolishing of the religious tax on Hindus is also very stressfully shown. This is something which our politicians have to learn. Music my A.R Rehaman is as always ...

The Race...

There is always a race to get ahead of what you have. But no matter how much you progress or upgrade yourself there is always a long way to go and you find yourself much far behind. I am trying to get at higher bandwidth for my internet. I started with a dial up connection with a connection speed of 14 kbps and today i want at least 2 MBPs to download all the movies in the DivX format from the torrent sites. Now i have a 256 kbps which takes on an average of 12-24 hrs to download a 700 MB movie. I was still sulking at the ISPs for not providing me that much bandwidth, i read an blog article which says HD Movies are released on torrents which are on an average 19 GBs per movie. huh... I got a 2 MP digital camera which became obsolete in an year. Then i went for a 4 MP upgraded model and people were already talking about a 8 MP and even a 13.2 MP. The 2 MP digiCam used to create a file of 2 MB size photo, the 4 MP creates around 3 MB file. Now i have almost around 20 GB of snaps and have...

Rama...

Image
A puppet show which i saw at Rangashankara. This was a play completely executed with puppets and computer graphics. A notable thing about this was that the story was manipulated at the end by Lord Rama not accepting Sita and Sita taking "Samidhi" at the end.

Mithya - Movie review...

Image
After reading a the reviews in the papers and with expectations from the previous movie (Bheja Fry) with the same team. Not able to wait to get people along and go to a theater, Downloaded thru torrent and watched. It was a big disappointment i must say... The team is best know for its comic timing and fresh humor. They have done what they are best at, but not exceed the expectations. A confused romantic story does not fit well into the comic movie. Vinay Phatak is not visible in the script. He was the soul in the previous movie "Bheja Fry". Naseruddin Shah should stop acting in comic roles, he is better off as a serious actor. Bottom line: Don't keep any expectations, you will enjoy the movie.

Elections in Pakistan

With Musharraf's men loosing the power and the opposition all set the rule the country, once again fears looms large all over the world about a possible free hand for Islamic terrorists. There are two aspects for this. 1. The American forces will still have their way as it does not matter which government rules in Pakistan or which idiot has the control over the critical border between the sane and insane worlds. They will threaten (to bomb Pakistan to stone age) and make them their slaves. 2. More over Pakistan's government, no matter who rules it, has no control of the terrorists inside or outside the country. So it really does not matter for the Americans to attack the terrorists deep inside the Pakistan's land. The puppet government will mearly a eyewash to the rest of the world that everything is in control.

Modi Charisma...

A very nice article about the biased media on Modi. GOD save the King !!! ...he was being projected as a future prime ministerial candidate... ... he is undaunted by hypocritical political correctness and persists in calling a spade a spade.... ..."In your heart you know he is right." It struck a chord.... ...Modi has shown that good politics lies in not allowing cronies to cream off taxpayers' money; and that good economics involves zero tolerance of waste and inefficiency.... ...He has succeeded because he has come to personify courage and integrity.... ... Let's hope Modi stays the course. Let's hope he injects politics with a dose of freshness....

Implications...

The news headlines are scaring me, the Islamic terrorists spreading their wings deep into the Indian subcontinent. Places like Hubli, Belgaum and Gulbarga have a very high population of Muslims and there have been many instances of communal clashes during India Pakistan matches, when the Muslim populations come out openly in support of Pakistan's team or on occasions of Independence day for hoisting the Indian tri-color on some "claimed to be" Muslim grounds. There has been a steady rise in support for fundamental islamist in those areas with many madarsas sprouting all over. These areas have proved to be a good breading ground for such anti national terrorist organizations. It does not come as a surprise, the recent findings of terrorist training camps in those regions. There are news reports in the media about possible suicide attacks on Advani and Modi. Assassination of one of those leaders would for sure create havoc for the Muslim population. The Gujarat riots have a...

Jugari Cross - Kannada play

Image
Finally went to this play at Ranga Shankara with my entire family, something which i was trying to do since a long time. Jugari Cross - Kannada play for 105 mins, written by Poornachandra Tejasvi and directed by Nataraj Honnalli. Poornachandra Tejasvi is the son of “Rashtrakavi” Kuvempu. The play starts with introduction of Jugari Cross and goes on to be a story of a treasure hunt. A couple goes to a market to sell beetle nut harvest from their farm. Some local goons hide some drugs in their bag on the way. The rest of the story is about how the goons chase them and the couple stumble upon some old scripts which turn out to be a map to the treasure. The striking point about the play was the vivid range of people from all parts of karnataka. Decided to watch it for "Poornachandra Tejasvi"'s name !!!
