Aarakshan - Review

Image
First on performances, as usual AB has given a excellent performance. The whole move rests on his performance. If it would not have been AB, it would have failed to hold the screen for so long. Hema Malani is impressive in the special appearance towards the end (ok... this is not a spoiler... it becomes obvious in the starting credits of the movie). Deepika looks good and has done a reasonably good job. The good things end here... the biggest let down is the script that looses the focus from Aarakshan to private tutions to clash of egos towards the end. First the discussions of reserved Vs unreserved instead of reservation based on cast or economical background. The argument on evils of private tutions is ill conceived. The cover of bank guarantee is all that you could come up with Mr Jha..? Someone having a private institute is nothing wrong. The hyped up references to the ill treatment meted out to the Dalit community in a place like Bhopal in today's time is completely...

Am i ... am i not....

Had been to home town. This was not the first time, but after a long time. This time it was different becos this time it was the the first time after we letout our home on rent. Went back to meet the tenant. I rang the bell of my own house and waiting for some one to open the door. Used to always open the door with the key I always had. Saw a small kid running up and down my stairs. I was like who the hell... Get lost... Roaming around the city where I grew up, now without a home to stay definitely was a painful experience, something I had never come across before. Evey turn i would take, every time I drove, felt like going home but was not. I had never walked so much in this town ever. Felt as if this city had suddenly become so small I can cover the whole city in a day. Every person I met treated me like a guest. With the same set of questions. When did you come, when are you going back. as if they were asking me to go back. Walking down the lane of my collage, felt very nostalgic. A...

Hinduism and Concept of GOD

Islamic scholars argue that in Hinduism the concept of GOD is not correct. The whole argument is around the concept in Hinduism which says all the things in the universe is a part of GOD himself. It what really means that GOD is everywhere and is there all the times. They say if GOD is there everywhere, even in a human then GOD becomes a human. It is poor lack of common sense that when a subset (human) is part of a super set (GOD), how can be that the super set be the same as the subset. It is always the other way around. Islam preaches that GOD is not everywhere and does not belong to on earth (or does not exists on earth). So according to physics, to call something to exists it should occupy some space and should be somewhere. This holds good for Hinduism preaching as it says GOD is everywhere and occupies the entire universe. If according to Islam, if GOD is not there on earth then to say GOD exists, he should be somewhere. The concept of Idol worship is also criticized by the Islam...

Wake up Sid...

Watched a movie in a theater after a long long time... I kinda like such movies... everything was good about it. The only thing that this movie lacks is the depth. It was a nice story with nice star cast but somewhere down the line, the director/writer missed to fill in the gaps. At the end you start missing something in the movie and you tend to get lost somewhere. Ranbir is here to stay... he is a versatile actor without much baggage. Not like his sisters (kareena and Karishma) whom i equally love not to see them on screen or in media. Konkana is at her best as usual. The story was very much predictable and does not take you by surprise at all. The movie could have been much more intresting if the other characters would have been given more life. For example Ranbir's friend who breaks up, is completely without any effect. The feelings of Ranbir's friend Tanya for him is a sporadic event. Can be watched once... on DVD

The Lucknow Trip - of Chiken Cloths and search for Tunday Kabbi

Image
Had been to Lucknow for some office related work for a week. Before starting from here, had asked couple of friends about some "must dos" in Lucknow. Two names popped up every time, Chikan sarees and chichkan kabab @ " Tunde Kababi " Lucknow is a amalgamation of old city charms and the urban "shopping mall" charms. We stayed at La Place Park Inn which is a three star hotel. But was not satisfied with the services. The very first day we ventured out to have a look around the city. Hired a Cycle rick which are the most convenient way of transport in Lucknow. He took us directly to SEWA shopping center which is a famous chikan work goods. Was planning to buy 2 sarees but ended up buying nine. Later when discussing with the locals got conflicting opinions about where to buy original yet reasonable chikan work cloths. Some suggested us to buy at chowk, others cautioned us that the quality at chowk is not guaranteed. Others told us that SEWA guaranties the qua...

I am without a JOB !!!

YES... I don't have a job :) I have just resigned from my previous company and joining a new company this Monday. It's kind of nice feeling for sometime not to be thinking about what to do in office tomorrow. Had been on a weekend trip spree for the past almost three months. Have been travelling out of Bangalore each and every weekend for the past three months. Gulbarga, Shimoga, Chennai, Pune, Shirdi, Tirupathi.... WoW never traveled so much before. Haven't seen any movies in the recent past. Yeh, New york and X-Man - Origins. Liked New York, but X-Man disappointed me, being a X-Man fan had a lot of exceptions. Hey...Wait... just realized that times have changed and such updates are better done on facebook... hm, well let me keep such things to face book and more serious elaborate articles on my blog...
